Our second time in Bristol in a week, we're almost natives now. The show was a bit quieter, with a low turnout.  But we still had a fair bit of fun. Brad and team from Bristol Reptile Encounters introduced us to "Cuddles", a 24ft boa constrictor. She was lovely, and didn't eat any of us.

We decided to try out some hand-painted, 3D-printed mushroom and log spider hides. These went down really well, especially considering that these were the first things any of us had painted. We also did quite well with our 3D-printed enclosures.

Welcome to Bristol for the first time this week. A 2-hour drive and a mixed bag of weird weather to boot. Not quite Flash Gordon, but pretty close. 

Another well-run show, with a lot of space for vendors to set up and run their days without needing to be overly friendly with their neighbours... Not that this stopped everyone being friendly, of course. We seem to be moving more into enclosures and enclosure-related bits-n-bobs. The plan was to take a load of stuff, and what we didn't manage to sell, we had for Saturday's show, back in Bristol. 

Well, we had a great show, and we will be busy 3D printing more enclosures and furniture, as well as pre-building a lot of the acrylic enclosures we have. So, why not come along to the Great Ant Exhibition next week and see what we manage to get built?

One of the lessons we learned identified the first time around was stock management. Trying to manage all of the critters we have was a nightmare. Where we can make things to order, though... we didn't learn that lesson. No, actually, that is a bit easier.

Also, we changed banking providers our new hosts provide a free webshopping e-commerce-y doo-dah... Fancy.

So, while it's two different websites and a whole load of new things to get to grips with, hopefully, it's not too bad an experience. What do you think? The Bug Expo held in Horsham on June 28th 2026, was a new show in the calendar, and there were mixed emotions. First, it started early... but, Horsham is not very far away from us... so you know what that means... we're gonna be late.

Show prep for us usually starts a good week in advance, but what do we take? We have a reasonably sized car, but how do we ram it to the gills for a new show and a small show? One of our suppliers is struggling with a big seller for us, so that's going to have a knock-on effect... So, our never-yet-beaten planning strategy kicked into action - let's just wing it.

When we arrived, we found the team very helpful and had no problems pointing us in the right direction, helping with unloading, and checking in with everyone throughout the day. We were set up quickly and had a good bit of space. 

The weather was lovely, there was a bar, a bar-b-q, a playing field and swings and stuff. Overall, it was a great day, and we will definitely be trying for some tables next year.

No, you're not going crazy (well, not as far as we can tell). We used to have an online shop on here, but the overhead just became too much. Over 200 items across isopods, millipedes, mantids, snails, spiders, 3D printed items, substrates, general bits and bobs, etc., managing stock levels, images, descriptions and price information, well, it all just became a little too much. 

We do still sell things, and we travel to shows a fair bit. If you'd like to reach out to discuss anything, we'd love to hear from you as well. We can still ship items within the UK.

Well, a little bit. We are coming to the end of our first year of doing this and so some things are expiring. We gave a bunch of things a good go, but it seems selling things online is not on the overly fun side. For this reason, we have moved website providers. Nothing wrong with Squarespace, their tools are very easy to use, and the sales integration is easy to set up. It was purely a cost thing.

So the new site doesn't have listings for items to buy but we will update the critters and products sections from time to time. We can ship you stuff if you're in the UK and you know what you're after. Come along to a show and have a chat, or reach out via email.
